Regardless of engine, you still get solid handling, an attractive and usable interior, and Toyota's reputation and subsequent resale value. It apparently has fewer emissions than the V6, but with a single mile-per-gallon improvement and a much noisier, more unpleasant driving experience, it's a downgrade in our book. Toyota dropped the silky V6 in favor of a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder. On the flip side, there's the conventional Highlander. Not only is it a huge advantage over the conventional gas-powered Highlander, it represents a huge advantage over virtually every other SUV in its class. It's amazingly efficient, delivering 35 mpg combined with all-wheel drive. The only one that truly feels like a car is the outback.The 2023 Toyota Highlander remains a strong three-row SUV choice, if you choose the hybrid. The Rav4 won't have comparable space for sleeping. The highlander will offer much of what the outback offers in terms of space, but driving characteristics will be sacrificed. I say that because you can easily feel overconfident with how well it handles. Have no worries about it going another 200,000km. put another $3k into it to make sure all the maintenance was in order. These will definitely be found for under $10k. I do recommend finding one where the head gaskets have already been replaced as this is a common failure with this generation. There isn't much I can fault the vehicle for. Power seats help on long trips to make small adjustments and I find driving comfortable. The large sunroof makes it nice to open at night when laying in the back. The height of the cargo space is 33.5 inches. It's the last generation of the outback that feel light and easy to drive. It has lots of space and handles like a car. Sleep comfortably at 6 feet tall, recommend a foam pad but I use a bed comforter.
